How frequently does one gets to hear sentences like, "Did you saw that performance?", "Did you saw the final match?" or "Did you really miss that party?" Well I heard sentences like these around 100 times on a single day and that through a single friend. Now when one is said such a thing so many times he is bound to be interested and really feel sad for such a mistake. Lets start from where it all began!!!
It was a lovely Friday morning with pleasant weather and as usual I reached office on foot after a refreshing 20 minute brisk walk. Started working normally and unlike the last two days there was no work load today. Other then that my friend Prem was already helping me out of his way to finish my data sheets. During lunch time we discovered a cafeteria to have lunch and after having Chicken Biryani we went back to office around 2:30 pm.
Just when I was about to finish my glass of water, I overheard my another friend, Veer, explaining someone what he/she has missed today. Inquisitively I went to him to listen to his conversation.
"Yaar! Did you saw the auditions for office party?" asked Veer, catching his breath.
"No. I didn't know about it. What happened?"
"Maria danced on didi song during the auditions." exclaimed Veer.
Now Maria is a most desired lady working in our office. And don't underestimate this statement. Irrespective of caste, creed, color, age, sex, office or whatever class you can divide people into, she is stared by everyone. My office mates of other teams have adjusted there lunch and coffee breaks with her timings. Everything she does is the topic of gossip in the office.
Now even though she is this famous, still... come on... what's so exciting about a dance. So I asked to explain in detail so that I could comprehend the reason of his excitement.
"Well she performed on Didi song remix. During the 2 minute performance her face was on other side and during the whole performance only two steps were there. Only two body portions were in rigorous movement just like the Shakira performing the hip's don't lie. Then everyone went crazy. Let alone the bachelors, the married guys who were the front seater's had their tongues hanging out and eyes focused on the "art" without any bodily need of blinking. Some had their wives troubling them with elbows but even that could not bring them to their senses. The females had there hands on mouth to stop the tongues rolling out."
"Okay that's enough!!! Bastard why would you not give me a miss call??" I exclaimed,"Why do you have my number your phone if you can't call me on urgent things."
"I don't know why I would not call you. I guess I was too busy appreciating the skill to copy Shakira. No doubt she will be the winner in final competition. At the end of the performance she said that they have prepared this much only. I wonder what new step she will perform." said Veer with eyes focused in air and dreaming about her.
I felt that the more I will hear about this, the more i will curse myself for missing the event. So I went back to my cubicle and there it is again. Everyone is talking about the dance. Its not as if our team members did not perform but no one was cared about that... I assured myself that this shall also pass. But not that easy.
In evening we had home warming party since it was a weekend. Even then the people were not tired of this topic and her discussion went on and on. Finally we slept at 3:00 and I could only curse Veer before going to bed. Definitely I am going to final party even if I have to catch a flight early morning next day for Mumbai to receive my degree from college. Just wait for the videos on YOUTUBE.... :)
